Communication is our specialty! Audiology and Speech Pathology are increasingly popular professions due to the rewarding outcomes of working with individuals who have communication disorders or differences. On so many levels, making connections is crucial to successful communication; thus, 鈥淚mproving Life鈥檚 Connections鈥� is a continuous goal for our faculty, staff, students, and patients.

In the Department of Audiology and Speech (ASP), our academic and clinical faculty combine their knowledge and experience to bridge the gap between practice and research through education. This shared approach benefits our students by requiring them to question, learn, and apply evidence-based diagnosis and treatment techniques and ensures best practice for our patients.

ASP, while administered by the UTHSC College of Health Professions in Memphis, is physically located in the heart of UT Knoxville鈥檚 campus, but the accomplishments of our faculty and students go far beyond the borders of our state. The Department鈥檚 excellence is consistently affirmed by our graduates, who achieve impressive scores on their PRAXIS exams, have remarkable job placement rates after graduation, and go on to hold prestigious positions in all areas of our field.
