The Department of Surgery utilizes the BERD Clinic for statistical and biostatical support, offering assistance to all department faculty and residents in all aspects of biostatistics. The assists with all aspects of research design, implementation, analysis, reporting, and publication. They offer both in person and virtual consultations as well as several research-related articles to help individuals of all levels. DOS trainees receive 15 hours/year of statistical consultation free of charge through UTHSC DOS and COM. Trainees do require faculty mentorship. State of the art biostatistical support also includes molecular bioinformatics, health services research, and population health studies in addition to traditional biostatistical assistance. Everyone is encouraged to utilize BERD Clinic as early as possible in their research to assure best practices
